Myself…

I am a man of many faces and many experiences. I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by some pretty inspiring people in my life. I like to have fun. At times, I find myself going completely out of my way just to make someone laugh! It’s really important to enjoy what life has to offer. I live in Chicago. This city is pretty amazing! I love it here because it really nurtures creativity, and this city is full of it! I developed a natural relationship with the camera at a young age from watching my dad with his camera. I was fascinated with it. I always wondered what all those buttons, levers and gadgets were! I love the inherent challenge of capturing the perfect moment. You have just a split second to react when all variables align precisely. I have the ability to immortalize a single frame of someone’s personal life, a beautiful landscape, or an intense musical performance. That is something special. The most important thing about photography and videography is that you have to have fun with it! Nothing is worth doing if you aren’t having fun.

I love photography, but my real passion is film. I remember when it changed my life. The way that a director was able to connect with you on such an intimate level was so exhilarating. The way the camera moves, an actor’s performance, the perfect lighting, the music, the sounds… all together they can trigger every single one of your emotions. I started looking at film differently. I started noticing the small, overlooked and underappreciated details like a perfect camera tracking shot, an incredibly difficult rack focus, or the deliberate lighting in a particular scene. I anatomize everything when I watch film and I acknowledge and appreciate how much it has inspired my life.

My experience…

I have an extremely wide range of photography experience. I’m completely self-taught with my camera so there are no rules to me. I’ll always keep shooting that way. I will never limit myself. I strive for the perfectly exposed, composed, and focused image whether it’s a photo or video. I pay attention to detail. I love capturing movement. Nothing feels more natural than something that is in motion. You can’t fake it. I always look for symmetry in a setting. I prefer shooting handheld and I favor prime lenses because it forces me to be engaged with my environment. I love experimenting with light and slower shutter speeds. I still get that nervous bug until the first shot is taken and I’m ok with it because I know it pushes me to be the best I can possibly be.

My future…

There would be nothing better than to travel the world while doing what I love. My goals are to create genuine friendships, to spread positivity, and promote well-being. The camera is such a powerful tool to help facilitate these goals. I am looking to create new relationships with like-minded individuals. I am excited for new and different experiences that will force me to expand my skill set. I have ambitions to write, direct, shoot, and edit my own film.
